AUTUMN: Death In The Family Forces Show Cancellation
May 16, 2008Dutch symphonic metallers AUTUMN have been forced to cancel their previously announced May 17 concert at the Boerderij in Zoetermeer, Holland due to the "unexpected death" of drummer Jan Grijpstra's father. "We don't know yet if the show will be rescheduled," the band says in a statement. "As it looks now, the Pagepop (May 25) show will go on as planned."
AUTUMN recently announced the addition of singer Marjan Welman to the group's ranks. She replaces Nienke de Jong, who left the band in January.
Within the Dutch rock scene, Marjan is considered to be a promising talent with her warm voice and perfect timing. Her recent vocal contribution on the AYREON album "01011001" received outstanding reviews and shows a singer who stands her ground between a selection of highly acclaimed international vocalists.
Marjan will make her stage debut with AUTUMN at a number of major summer festivals, such as Wacken Open Air, Metal Gothic Palace and Summer Breeze. She will be fully involved in the writing process of the follow-up record to "My New Time". Marjan will also keep performing with the Dutch band ELISTER.
